Q

To what extent has modern technology limited or decreased fair outcomes?

A

Access to modern technology can be limited:
Expense
Generally only available at elite level
Used in some sports and not others

Performance enhancing drugs:
Technology creates new drugs
PEDs give athletes an unfair advantage
Testing technology can’t keep up with new drug development

Pressure on officials:
Can highlight errors and overrule them
To use the technology rather than make their own decision, which disrupts the game
Easier to find negligence through poor referee decisions = referees face litigation
