3
Q
describe mircrofibre
A
- polyester or nylon
- 60 to 100 times finner then human hair
- can be blended with synthetic or neutral fibres
- used for latching and outdoor pursuers and sportwear
4
Q
describe fibre blends
A
- blending different fibres together produces yarns that have the combined ptorpties of each component fibre
- using fibre blends improves the appearance performance, comfort and after care of fabric
- polyester/ cotton blend: shirts are more easy care and crease resistant
- cotton/ Lycra blend: jeans and more comfortable, stretchy and fit better the cotton jeans
- Acrylic/ wool blend: trouser are less expensive
5
Q
describe modern microfibres
A
- elastane (lycra) - always used in a blend with other fibres, used to make sportswear, body hugging clothes and bandages. It has good handle and easy care, low warmth and is absorbent
Tencel- ‘natural’ microfibre made from cellulose derived from wood pulp. used for shirt and jeans. It has a soft handle, good drape, is breathable, durable, create resistant, easy care and biodegradable. abostant and low warmth
