Modelling Flashcards
Why is modelling important?
It allows you to visualise your designs in 3D, and spot and solve any problems.
What is a jelutong?
An easily workable wood
What are construction kits?
A kit with different sized and shaped parts to build with.
What are toiles?
Early versions of a clothing design - they can be worn by a model or placed on a mannequin, and are used to find the proportions and fit of the garment.
Qualities of fabric that should be used for toile
-cheap- design can be experimented with and improved without costing too much
-lightly coloured to mark any changes needed on it
-similar properties to the real fabric - e.g. weight and stretchiness
What is a fabric commonly used for toiles?
Calico
What are breadboards used for?
To test whether a circuit design works
What are breadboards?
Boards with rows of holes that electronic components can be pushed through.
Wires are plugged into the other holes to complete the circuit for testing.
Why are breadboards useful?
They don’t require soldering.
The components can be easily removed and the circuit can be easily changed.
What is mathematical modelling?
A type of modelling that shows how an object or system will behave in reality.
Models are made using data and information about known relationships between variables.
What information is needed to be ready to make prototypes?
- the best materials, tools and equipment to use
- the assembly process
- the approximate manufacturing time needed to complete each product
- hw much it should cost to make each product
