16
Q

Ligaments

A

A ligament is a thick connective tissue that connects bone to bone, forming joints.

17
Q

Tendons

A

Tendons are fibrous bands that connect muscle to bone. Though tendons are extremely strong, they cannot easily heal from damage.

18
Q

Ligaments, Tendons & Muscles

Muscle has 4 basic

characteristics:

A
  1. Excitability – receive and respond to stimuli
  2. Contractility – shorten and thicken, or contract in response to stimuli
  3. Extensibility – can be stretched
  4. Elasticity – can return to original shape
