Mitosis Flashcards
Interphase
Cell prepared to divide
Dna is replicated
Organelles replicated
Increased ATP production
Prophase
Chromosomes condense
Centrioles move to opposite ends of the cell forming spindle fibres
Nuclear envelope breaks down
Metaphase
Chromosomes line up along the cell and become attached to the spindle by the centromere
Anaphase
Centromere divides
Sister chromatids seperate
Spindles contract and pull chromatids to opposite poles
Telophase
Chromatids reach opposite poles and uncoil to become chromosomes
Nuclear env reforms
Cytokinesis
Cytoplasm divides
Forms two identical daughter cells
Binary fission
Circular DNA and plasmids replicate
Cell gets bigger and DNA loop moves to opposite poles
Cytoplasm starts ti decide
Cytoplasm divides and daughter cells produced
Each cell has one copy of circular DNA
How do viruses replicate
They use attachment proteins to bind to receptors that are on host cells
They inject they’re DNA or RNA into host cell and then the cell replicates the viral particles
