What is the waiting period for filing a missing report with the department?
No waiting period
What is an amber alert?
System initiated where there is reasonable cause to believe the victim is under 18 years old and it’s believed they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.
What is a Missing Vulnerable Adult alert?
System initiated when missing person is at least 18 years old and has a cognitive disorder, mental disability, brain disorder etc,
When a member is made aware of a missing what steps must be taken?
-refer to the NYS DCJS missing date collection guide
- complete missing persons report including General Authorization form
- Notify CU
-Prepare a Department incident report
-make notifications to three departments/precincts
-photos obtained and entered into NCIC
When investigating missing and the person is still missing after 30 days of original report, what shall the Detectives obtain?
Dental records and enter into the DCJS/NCIC missing person record
A missing report received in CT will be directly forwarded to who?
FBI
In regards to a supervisor, who shall be given a description of missing person for notification to train crews?
Chief Train Dispatcher
When the missing has been located the CU Supervisor will send what message and ensure who has been notified?
Ensure eJustice/collect teletype message is sent to cancel original missing entry and ensure family member has been notified
What shall the member include in the case file when missing person has been located ?
Copy of teletype canceling the missing person report
Who shall evaluate missing person cases and determine which alert shall be activated?
District CO (or his/her designee)
