A

Chemo pts wear a cold hat to vasoconstrict the blood vessels under their scalp in the hopes that not as much chemo will get there and they will not lose their hair.

What is an adverse concern about scalp cooling?

A

If you vasoconstrict the scalp vessels, they could get a sub-lethal dose of chemo thus the cancer could survive in the scalp.. It is contraindicated in hematologic malignancies
