Misc GN orgs-- Special GNB Flashcards
Which GNB organisms are special?
Pasturella
Aeromonas
Plesiomonas
What is special about the special GNB?
These have super power! They can ferment and are oxidative!
They are all indole and oxidase positive and will grow on routine media, but Pasteurella won’t grow on MAC.
Will Pasteurella grow on MAC?
NO.
What air is Pasteurella fond of?
facultative anaerobe
Is Pasteurella motile?
Non-motile
Gram stain Pasteurella?
Small poor staining GNB with bipolar staining
Pasteurella growth on BAP?
“Musty” smell with small transluscent colonies
What disease does Pasteurella cause?
Pasteurellosis–usually seen as cellulitis
What are the MC Pasteurella infections?
Wound infections
caused by P. multocida
