Miller-Urey and Primordial Soup Flashcards
1
Q
What was the Miller-Urey experiment?
A
They sealed nitrogen, hydrogen, ammonia and methane and heated them and applied an electrical charge.
2
Q
What did Miller and Urey find?
A
That amino acids were made, but not as many as there are on Earth.
3
Q
What is the primordial soup theory?
A
That the atmosphere was made up of nitrogen, hydrogen, methane and ammonia. Lightning struck and caused a reaction between the gases, which formed amino acids.
4
Q
In the Miller-Urey experiment, what does the electrical charge simulate?
A
Lightning
