What are the pros and cons of extracting metals?

Pros: Makes useful products, brings jobs and money to area therefore improves transport and health in the area

Cons: Bad for environment, causes noise, scarring and loss of habitats. Mine shafts can be dangerous for a long time.

1. Saves energy (which uses fossil fuels)
2. Therefore uses less fossil fuels which is good as fossil fuels causes acid rain, global dimming etc
3. Uses much less energy to recycle that to mine etc
4. Saves money because it uses less energy
5. Conserves metal sources
6. Reduces amount of metal that goes to landfills
