A
- Individuals are free to act (have the liberty to act) so long as their actions do not harm other
- Coercing someone/interfering with someone’s liberty is only permissible to prevent harm to others

What is Harm vs. Offence
A
- Harm: Action must be injurious (assault); or must set back an individual’s important interests (violates a right)
- Offence: Minor Disturbances and Ephemeral disruptions; may cause discomfort and/or annoyance
Note: Not every unwelcome or negative consequence constitutes a bona fide harm

Paternalism
A
- Permissible to be paternalistic with children
- Mature individuals should never be subject to paternalistic policies
- Permissible to reason with or to rationally persuade a person, but NEVER PERMISSIBLE TO COERCE a person for their own good
