What is the difference between forced and voluntary migration?
A
- Voluntary migration is when migrants choose to move via push and pull factors.
- Forced migration occurs when the migrants feel they have no alternative but to move due to natural disasters or conflict etc.

- Syrian people became trapped in between the Isis regime and fled the conflict.
- 1/3 of Syrians have been displaced by the conflict.
- 4 million have fled and are being held in refugee camps in neighboring countries.
- Many refugee camps are overcrowded and lack basic amenities.

- Germany’s working population is decreasing.
- Many Syrian asylum seekers landing in Germany are educated, enthusiastic, and eager to work.
- Immigrants have filled more than 2/3’s of 1.5 million jobs created over the past 5 years.
- Cheap labor.
- However, there have been large language barriers.
- Crime rate has increased since the influx in 2014.
- Increased costs of services.
- Disagreements between religions and cultures have led to racism on occasion.
