Infrequency of certain emotions, cognitions, behavior. Too much or too little for age might be disorder.
Sociocultural norm description?
Beliefs of groups of what is undesirable or unacceptable
Mental health definitions?
Theoretical and clinically based motions of distress and dysfunction. I.e, negative quality of life, poor functioning, symptoms
Adequate and optimal adaptation?
Adequate - acceptable
Optimal - what is excellent or superior
Neither ensure smooth sailing, because values affect. Also for statistics, look at both extremes or just “bad”
Judgements of deviancy are based on?
Child characteristics (age, sex, intelligence)
Situational appropriateness of child’s behavior (social and cultural context in which judgements are made)
