0.03 - 0.08 mg / kg IV
(1-2 mg)
Can be given IM, IN, PO

Elimination Half Time
Elimination half time is 1-4 hours (short acting)
Elimination
Metabolized by the liver and excreted by the urine
Caution in alcoholics / liver disease
CNS Effects
Anxiolytic
Amnesic
Hypnotic
Decreases cerebral blood flow
NO ANALGESIA
CVS Effects
Neutral: decrease in TPR but minimal effect on Blood Pressure
Respiratory Effects
Dose dependent respiratory effects
Synergistic with opioids
Response exaggerated in elderly, COPD
Misc. Effects
Water soluble therefore pain with injection and phlebitis seen with Diazepam is uncommon
