What is Lifenet?

Where are they located?

A
  • Lifenet monitor and special phone used for receiving EKG’s
  • is a touch screen computer and can accidentally be turned off but should never be
  • sits behind the charge nurse and there is a special phone next to the monitor.
  • There is also one in Bridgeton

How do you answer the Lifenet phone?

A

When the phone rings, answer it like any other phone and then call the receiving ED from the same phone

What do you do if the time and date on the lifenet phone are wrong?

A

call the IT and the MICU supervisor on duty at 856-384-6662

What do you do if the Lifenet phone call must be forwarded to the physician?
How do you do that?

A

If the call must be forwarded to the physicians phone, the base nurse must use the CONF button to send it.
Press the CONF soft key and do not hang up, the call will not be recorded if it is just transferred.

What does the nurse do after transferring the call to the physician?

A

The base nurse then listens in to the call between the physician and the crew so that the nurse will have the information to notify the receiving hospital

A

The lifenet monitor should alert when an ECG is received

What do you do if an EKG is sent to the Lifenet monitor?

A

Once the ECG is received, make a selection where to forward it to

  • it can be forwarded to multiple areas, ie an ED and a cath lab
  • it does not send to Christiana at this time.

Priority 1 = immediate life threat 
Priority 2 = requires ALS
Priority 3 = may require ALS 
Priority 4 =  does not require ALS 
Priority 5 = field pronouncement

Priority 5 calls - pronouncements.
Refusal after treatments ie; diabetic who wakes up after D 50, non suicidal OD after narcan and refuses transport
When requested by the paramedic
