Microscopes And Cells Flashcards
What happens in the mitrochondria
Reactions for aerobic respiration take place.
What does the nucleus do
Control what the cell does and contains genetic material
What happens in the cytoplasm
It is where most of the chemical reactions happen.
What does the cell membrane do
It holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out
What can you do to help see the different parts of a cell
Use a electron microscope and stain the cell first
What is a cell wall made of
Cellulose
What does the cell wall do
Support the cell
What does the vacuole contain in a plant cell
Cell-sap
What happens in chloroplasts
It’s where photosynthesis occurs
What does mitochondria look like
They are tiny parts of cell floating in the cytoplasm
What is the cell wall
A tough outer layer which contains cellulose to provide strength to the plant
What is the vacuole in a plant cell
A rectangular shape inside the cytoplasm that contains a liquid like cell sap and keeps the cell firm
What is the chloroplasts
They are structures found inside the cell which contain a green pigment called chlorophyll and is where photosynthesis occurs
What part of plant cells gives them their crunch
The cell wall gives them their crunch
What do animal cells feel like
Animal cells fell squishy or malleable
What do plant cells feel like
Plant cells fell firm or rigid
Cells are…
The basic building block that makes up all living organisms
What are tissue
A group of similar cells working together
What is an organ
A group of different tissues working together
What is a organ system
A group or organs working together
What do organ systems work to make
An entire organism
What order does the cell organisation go in
Cell, tissue, organ, organ system, organisms
What is the first step to using a mciroscope
Angle the mirror so light shines up through hole in stage
What is the second step to using a microscope
Clips slide onto stage
What is the third step to using a microscope
Start with using the lowest powered objective lens and move it down to just above to just above slide by turning rough focusing knob
What is the fourth step into using a microscope
Look down eye piece and adjust focus with fine focusing get knob until you get a clear image of what’s inside
What can you do to see a slide with h greater magnification
Swap to a higher powered objective lens and refocus
What is a unicellular organism
A living thing made up of only one cell
How is euglena adapted to living in the water
They have a nucleus and a flagellum for swimming
How is amoeba adapted to surviving in the water
They have a nucleus and a vacuole for getting rid of excess water
