Preparing a slide
A
Add a drop of water to the slide. Take a thin section of the sample and place flat onto the slide using tweezers. Stain the sample using iodine to view clearly. Place a glass cover slip on top.

Image = actual x magnification

How to work out magnification?
A
Total magnification = objective lens x eyepiece lens

How do you look through a microscope?
A
Switch the lamp on, look through the eyepiece lens and start with the lowest objective lens, use the focussing wheel to obtain a clear image
