What is the pathophysiology of infective endocarditis?

A

The heart valve
Bacteria onto a pre-existing valve problem.

Normal heart valves become infected.

Bacteria grow on the collagen, change it metabolic state and become a biofilm

Decrease susceptibility to Rx.

Valve hearts HAVE no capillaries: difficult to treat.
