• strength is that the same people are used over a period of time so there are no individual differences. same people often have the same cohort, so are likely to have very similar experiences.
• weakness is keeping the ppt long enough to draw conclusions on the issue being studied. The nature of mental health means that ppt more prone to drop out, lack of motivation or uncontactable, they may even move away.
