What is the method of joints?

A

STEP 1: compute external reactions
STEP 2: separate every pin and every bar, drawing the truss again but using the full width of the page
STEP 3: Let the bar forces be the unknowns
STEP 4: resolve horizontal and vertical forces for every node/pin (i.e 2 equations per pin)
