Forces, moments and equilibrium Flashcards
What does force cause?
A force causes translational acceleration of a mass
What is the equation for horizontal force?
What is the equation for vertical force?
What is the equilibrium for particles?
A particle is in equilibrium when it has a zero resultant force acting on it (i.e. zero magnitude), which means a zero horizontal force component AND a zero vertical force component
If F = 20kN at an angle of 30 to the horizontal, what will the force components be?
How do you work out force using pythagoras?
How do you work out the angle of a force?
If the Fhor = 20Kn to the right and Fvert = 30kN up, what is the magnitude and direction of the resultant force F?
Work out the total force and angle
