What MET levels are descriptive of patients in the Phase I care of Cardiac Rehab (inpatient rehab/hospitalization)?
- MET levels 1 - 3.5
- At 3.5, DC to Phase II
What MET levels are descriptive of patients in Phase II of cardiac rehab (Outpatient)?
-MET Levels 3.5 and up
MET level 1
At rest
MET level 1.5-2
- In Phase I (Acute Inpatient)
- Low energy, mostly seated
- Help with transfers
- All activities you can do seated! E.g. playing cards, on computer, watching movies, desk work , sewing, knitting
- Possibly walking (1 mi/hr)
MET Levels 2-3
-In Phase I (Acute Inpatient)
-Dressing
-Seated sponge bath/seated shower with warm water
(NO hot water or super cold water–takes more energy)
-UEs take more energy than LE
-Dusting, doing dishes
-Playing instruments
-walking 2 mi/hours (at level TWO-three, walk TWO mi/hr)
MET levels 3-4
- Phase II (Outpatient ) at 3.5+
- Standing shower with warm water (NO hot or cold)
- Household chores (cuz you HOME!): sweep, mop, gardening, making bed
- Still, don’t use a lot of exertion
- Fishing, sailing
- Walking (THREE-4 mph)
- Archery, sailing, fishing, badminton (social doubles)
MET levels 4-5
- Phase II (Outpatient) at 3.5+
- Raking/weeding
- Change linens
- Table tennis, singles badminton, cycling, dancing, doubles tennis
MET levels 5-6
-Put linens to USE! SEXY TIME
(Think of all the sexual letters that start with F for FIVE–this is for YOU, Trace!)
-Shoveling, digging
-Cycling, canoeing, horseback, roller skating
MET levels 6-7
- Brisk walking (5 mi/hr). This is pretty fast
- Basketball, swim, singles tennis, water skii
- Snow shoveling
MET levels 7-8
- Jogging (5 mi/hr)
- Vigorous downhill skiing, mountain climbing, ice hockey, touch football
MET levels 8-9
- Running (5.5 mi/hr)
- Fencing, handball, vigorous basketball
MET levels 10+
- Running FAST (6 mi/hr +)
