On Eastern Monday, Launcelot’s nose started bleeding at six in the morning, four years after he got the same kind of bleeding nose on Ash Wednesday in the afternoon.

Shylock requests Jessica to lock up his doors. On hearing the drum and the “vile squeaing” of the “wry-necked fife”, Jessica should not climb up to the windows and gaze at the “Christian fools” with “varnished faces”. Instead, she should block up the windows and prevent the noise of “shallow foppery” from entering Shyock’s “sober house”.
