Meningiomas are tumors that arise from the meninges.

The meninges are the layers of tissue that surround the outer part of the brain and spinal cord.
How do meningiomas grow?
Meningiomas are slow growing.
Are meningiomas benign?
Meningiomas are considered benign but can involve bone and recurrences postoperatively can be aggressive.
What percentage of primary brain and spinal cord tumors do meningiomas account for?
Meningiomas account for 1/3 of primary brain and spinal cord tumors.
Where do meningiomas form?
Meningiomas form along the dura mater, the outermost layer of tissue that covers and protects the brain and spinal cord.
What is the treatment for meningiomas?
Treatment includes surgery and EBRT for residual tumor after surgery or recurrence.
