Q

Features of RAM

A
  • Volatile (lost if RAM is turned off)
  • Used to store data or files
  • CAn be written to or read from
  • Larger the ram, faster the computer will be
  • RAM never runs out of memory, only slows down
  • As RAM becomes full, old is overwritten with new data

Q

Hard Disk Drives

A
  • Stored in digital format on the magnetic surface of disks (platter)
  • Number of read/write heads can access all the surfaces of the disk
  • Each platter has 2 surfaces to store data
  • Slow compared to RAM
