  • chlorphenamine (H1 antagonist)- 10mg IV
  • IV hydrocortisome 200mg
  • IV fluids

  • repeat after 10 minutes if unresolved
  • Call for ambulance (999)
  • apply high flow O2

  • buccal midazolam gel 10mg
  • [diazepam 10-20mg]
  • remember to support head, not restrain movement, not put anything in mouth
  • place pt in recovery position once/if convulsions stop
  • ensure you call 999 in status epilepticus

Management of Hypoglycaemia

A

Awake /alert
* administer 15g oral carbohydrate e.g. glucose tablet/16-18ml glucose drink
* [10-20g of glucose given by mouth either in liquid form or sugar lumps- 2 teaspoons
* can be repeated in 10-15 minutes if necessary

Uncooperative patient
* buccal glucose gel

Unconscious patient
* 1mg glucagon IM injection followed by oral glucose supplement
