What is CABG?
coronary artery bypass graft
For pt. with artery blockages in the heart
A form of heart surgery which a section of vessel is grafted from the aorta to the coronary artery to bypass the blocked section
What is atrial fibrillation
Most common type of arrhythmia
AF occurs if rapid disorganized electrical signals cause the hearts upper two chambers to contract quickly- blood pools in the atria and isn’t completely pumped to ventricles
What is cardiac catherization?
Procedure used to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions- a catheter is inserted into an artery or vein in groin or arm or neck and threaded through the blood vessels to the heart
What is diaphoresis?
Sweating, especially to an unusual degree as a symptom of a disease or side effect of a drug
What is ejection fraction?
A measurement of the percentage of blood leaving your heart each time it contracts
When the heart contracts it ejects blood from the ventricles to the body
What is extubation?
The removal of a tube especially from the larynx after intubation
What is hypertension?
HTN- high blood pressure
what is hyperlipemia?
High cholesterol- high amount of lipids in the blood
What is nitroglycerin?
It is used as a vasodilator especially in angina pectorid- generates nitric oxide
What is sinus rhythm?
A normal heart beat in rate and rhythm- 60-100 bpm
