What is operative dentistry ?
Its a term to describe restorative and esthetic dentistry, its also known as general dentistry.
What is restorative dentistry?
Its the type of dentistry when tooth decay is removed and, restored to its original form and shape by using direct and indirect restorative materials.
What is a cavity?
A cavity is a pitted area on the tooth caused by tooth decay.
What is esthetic dentistry?
Its the type of dentistry that improves the appearance of teeth by repairing imperfections with direct and indirect restorative materials and whitening techniques.
What’s a restoration?
Its when you use restorative materials to return the teeth back to its original functional unit.
What’s a cavity preparation?
Its the process of removing the diseased part of the tooth while maintaining the healthy part of the tooth for restorative material.
What is the outline form?
Its when the dentists decides on the design and depth of the tooth structure.
What’s resistance form?
Its when the dentist determines the primary shape and placement of the cavity walls.
What is retention form?
Its when the dentist places retention in the preparation to help in securing the restoration in place.
What is convenience form?
Its when the dentist have accessibility in preparing and restoring the tooth.
What are retention (retentive) pins?
They are pins that are placed in the tooth structure to retain and support restorations.
What a veneer?
Its a thin layer of tooth coloured material that is applied to the facial surface of a prepared tooth.
What is diastema?
Its a space between two teeth.
