unsaturation=2(#C)+2-(#H) Extended= 2(#C)+N-(#H)-(#X) Nitrogen makes 3 bonds, which is 1 less than the required.Halogens make one bond, which is one less than the required amount. It’s the total # of intended bonds - the total # of actual bond making things

Q

just curious, does anyone have a mneomic or easy way to remember what the meso, ecto, and endo -derms develop into? Kaplan’s is pretty good: Endoderm: Think Endernal (internal) lining/layer - Organs: Digestive and Respiratory tract, liver, thyroid, pancreas, and bladder. Mesoderm: Think “Means-O-Derm” (i.e., means of getting around) : Musculoskeletal, circulatory, excretory, and reproductive. Ectoderm: Think “Attract-O-Derm” (things that make you attractive): Eyes, epidermis, inner ears (good listener), nervous system (smarts).

18
Q

Peptide bond, N-C=0 Be very weary of a hydrolysis of glutamine or aspartamine, it will yield glutamate and aspartate

A

What bond does a hydrolysis affect

19
Q

it does NOT depend on # of electrons that have passed, depends on more intrinsic factors.

A

What does the EMF of a redox reaction depend on?

20
Q

Vena Cava (think of a cave where you are throwing blue blood into, somewhere in Argentina)

A

What is blood vessel returning veins to right atria?

21
Q

it is the average of the pKa’s that end up giving the molecule a 0 charge, with one + atom and one - atom.Always has to be the zwitterion form.

A

What is the pI, in simple relativistic terms?

22
Q

Amount of blood leaving veins and entering arteries

A

What is Venous return?

23
Q

Endothelial cells

A

What type of cells line blood vessels?

24
Q

A

What type of hormone is oxytocin?

25
Q

Think artERIOLS.(think of a opera composer commanding a flock of bleeding, baseball-cap wearing ORIOLES (which are being controlled).

A

Which blood vessels are most heavily regulated?

26

Pressure. As evidenced by linearity of P in P=pgh

A

Which increases linearly, pressure or volume?
