Christian and muslim belief that all life is sacred and a gift from God.

A measure of fulfillment.

A state of being with God after Death.

A state of being without God (with the devil) after Death.

A time of spiritual cleansing and preparation for heaven.

Being born into another form after death (Sikh and Hindu).

A person is not able to give their consent to die (Coma, paralysed child).

Removing something keeping the person alive. Usually medical such as switching off the life support machine, disconnecting feeding tubes or not giving life-extending drugs.

When a person does something to end the patient’s life (lethal injection, administering a deadly amount of drugs).

Giving a person the means to end their own life. Illegal in Uk but legal in Holland and Switzerland.

A Swiss organisation that helps people end their lives.
Keyword: Hospice
A place where terminally ill people go to die. Families also receive support.

Care that does not cure but will make the patient’s life more comfortable.
