When should you set up a proportion
A
When there are two things (usually fractions) that are equal. Cross multiply and solve for the variable.

How would you find what the area equals if the height is now three times the original height.
A
You would solve this by first recognizing what this would look like. The area of a triangle equals 1/2(b)(h). The new area would equal 1/2(b)(3h). Try to get the number outside the equation so it looks like 3(1/2 x b x h). Then we know that the new area is just three times the old area.
