Math- Inequalities(Inequalities and systems of inequalities) Flashcards
What do you do when you multiply or divide by a negative number?
You flip the inequality sign. Otherwise solve like a normal equation.
What does the graph of an inequality look like?
The shaded region is all the options for solutions. When there is more than one equation, the overlapped shaded region represents all the solutions to the system.
When is the graphed line solid versus dashed?
It is solid if the sign is less than/greater than or equal. It is dashed if it is only less than/greater than.
How do you solve an inequality where there is inequality signs on both sides?
Ex. -7 < -2x + 3 < 15
Split it up into two inequalities that you can solve separately
Ex. This equation would be split up into…
-7 < -2x +3 and -2x +3 < 15
