and cried out in a great voice, and said

Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί,
what have I to do with you

Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου;
Jesus, son of the most high God?

ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεόν,
I adjure you by God
28
μή με βασανίσῃς.
do not torment me
29
ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ·
for he was saying to him
30
Ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.
unclean spirit, you come out of the man
31
καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν·
and he asked him
32
Τί ⸂ὄνομά σοι⸃; καὶ ⸂λέγει αὐτῷ⸃·
what is your name? And he replied
33
⸀Λεγιὼν ὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν·
my name is legion, because we are many
34
καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ
and he begged him many times
35
ἵνα μὴ ⸀αὐτὰ ἀποστείλῃ
that he not send them out
36
ἔξω τῆς χώρας.
out of the country
37
ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῷ ὄρει
bu there was on the mountain

ἀγέλη... μεγάλη
a large herd

χοίρων...βοσκομένη·
of pigs feeding

καὶ παρεκάλεσαν ⸀αὐτὸν λέγοντες·
and (the devils) besought him, saying

Πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους,
send us into the pigs

ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν.
so that we might enter into them
43
καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν ⸀αὐτοῖς
and Jesus permitted them
44
καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα
and the unclean spirits went out
45
εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους,
and entered into the pigs
46
καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη
and the herd rushed
47
κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν,
over the bank into the sea

⸀ὡς δισχίλιοι,
about two thousand (of them)
49
καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ.
and they drowned in the sea
50
⸂Καὶ οἱ⸃ βόσκοντες ⸀αὐτοὺς ἔφυγον
and those tending them fled
51
καὶ ⸀ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς·
and announced it in the city and in the fields

καὶ ⸀ἦλθον ἰδεῖν
and (people) came to see
53
τί ἐστιν τὸ γεγονός.
what has happened

καὶ ἔρχονται πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ θεωροῦσιν
and they came toward Jesus and they saw
55
τὸν δαιμονιζόμενον ⸀καθήμενον
he who had been demon-possessed sitting down
56
ἱματισμένον καὶ σωφρονοῦντα,
dressed and sane
57
τὸν ἐσχηκότα τὸν ⸀λεγιῶνα, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν.
the man who had had the legion and they were afraid
58
⸂καὶ... οἱ ἰδόντες
and those who had seen

διηγήσαντο⸃ αὐτοῖς...πῶς ἐγένετο
told them how it happened

τῷ δαιμονιζομένῳ
to the previously-demon-possessed-man

καὶ περὶ τῶν χοίρων.
and about the pigs also

καὶ ἤρξαντο παρακαλεῖν αὐτὸν
and they began to beseech him

ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν.
to leave from their territory

καὶ ⸀ἐμβαίνοντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον
and as he was getting into the boat

παρεκάλει αὐτὸν ὁ δαιμονισθεὶς
the man who had been possessed asked him
66
ἵνα ⸂μετ’ αὐτοῦ ᾖ⸃.
if he could be with him
67
καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν,
and Jesus did not allow him (to)
68
ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου
but said to him. "Go into your house...

πρὸς τοὺς σούς, καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλον αὐτοῖς
to your own people and announce to them
70
ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι⸃ πεποίηκεν
all that the Lord has done for you
71
καὶ ἠλέησέν σε.
and the mercy he has shown you
72
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει
and he left and began to proclaim in the Decapolis

ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς,
what great things Jesus had done for him

καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον.
and all were amazed
75
Καὶ διαπεράσαντος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
and when Jesus went across
76
ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ πάλιν εἰς τὸ πέραν
onto the other side of in the boat again onto the other side
77
συνήχθη ὄχλος πολὺς ἐπ’ αὐτόν,
a large crowd gathered unto him
78
καὶ ἦν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν.
and he was beside the sea
79
⸀καὶ ἔρχεται εἷς τῶν ἀρχισυναγώγων,
and there came one of the rulers of the synagogue
80
ὀνόματι Ἰάϊρος, καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν
named Jairus and when he saw him
81
πίπτει πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ
he fell to his feet
82
καὶ ⸀παρακαλεῖ αὐτὸν πολλὰ λέγων ὅτι
and besought him greatly, saying
83
Τὸ θυγάτριόν μου ἐσχάτως ἔχει,
my little daughter is on the brink of death
84
ἵνα ἐλθὼν ἐπιθῇς ⸂τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῇ⸃
(I ask that you) come and put your hands on her
85
⸀ἵνα σωθῇ καὶ ⸀ζήσῃ.
so that she may be healed and live
86
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν μετ’ αὐτοῦ.
and Jesus left with him
87
Καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς
and the whole crowd followed him
88
καὶ συνέθλιβον αὐτόν.
and were pressing against him
89
καὶ ⸀γυνὴ οὖσα
and a woman who was
90
ἐν ῥύσει αἵματος ⸂δώδεκα ἔτη⸃
in a flow of blood for 12 years
91
καὶ πολλὰ παθοῦσα
and had suffered many things
92
ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἰατρῶν
by many physicians
93
καὶ δαπανήσασα τὰ παρ’ αὐτῆς πάντα
and had expended all she had
94
καὶ μηδὲν ὠφεληθεῖσα
and gained no benefit from it

ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εἰς τὸ χεῖρον ἐλθοῦσα,
but rather grew worse
96
⸀ἀκούσασα περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ,
when she heard about Jesus
97
ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ὄπισθεν
she went into the crowd from behind
98
ἥψατο τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ·
to touch his clothes
99
ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὅτι ⸂Ἐὰν
for she said that if

ἅψωμαι κἂν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ⸃
only she were to touch but his clothes

σωθήσομαι
then she might be healed
102
καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς...ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς,
and immediately the source of her bleeding

ἐξηράνθη...καὶ ἔγνω
dried up and she knew
104
τῷ σώματι ὅτι ἴαται
in regard to her body that she had been healed
105
ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγος.
from the disease
106
καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐπιγνοὺς ἐν ἑαυτῷ
and immediately Jesus knew in himself
