Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης
and they went onto the other side of the lake
εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν ⸀Γερασηνῶν.
into the land of the Gerasenes
καὶ ⸂ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου
and when he got out of the boat
⸂εὐθὺς ὑπήντησεν⸃ αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος
immediately a man met him out of the tombs
ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ,
under the influence of an unclean spirit
ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν
he had his dwelling
ἐν τοῖς μνήμασιν,
in the tomb
καὶ οὐκέτι⸃ οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαι
and no one could bind him any longer
καὶ ⸂οὐδὲ ἁλύσει
not even with a chain
διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις…δεδέσθαι
because he had often been bound
πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι
with fetters and chains
καὶ…τὰς ἁλύσεις
and the chains
διεσπάσθαι ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ
had been broken by him
καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι,
and the fetters shattered
καὶ οὐδεὶς ἴσχυεν
and no one had the power
αὐτὸν⸃ δαμάσαι·
to subdue him
καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας
and constantly by night and day
ἐν τοῖς ⸂μνήμασιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν⸃
in the tombs and the mountains
ἦν κράζων καὶ
he used to cry out
κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις.
and gash himself with stones
καὶ ἰδὼν⸃ τὸν Ἰησοῦν
and when he saw Jesus
ἀπὸ μακρόθεν
from afar
ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ⸀αὐτόν,
he ran and worshipped him
καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ⸀λέγει·
and cried out in a great voice, and said
