MARK 1 Flashcards
The beginning of the gospel/good news of Jesus Christ
Just as it is written in the prophet Isaiah
Behold, I am sending my messenger
before you(r face)
who shall make ready your way
a voice (of the one) crying in the wilderness
Make ready the way of the Lord
make his paths straight
John came
baptising in the desert (and) preaching
a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins
all the land of Judea
and all the people of Jerusalem
went out to him
and were baptised by him
in the river Jordan
confessing their sins
And John was clothed
in camel hair
and a girdle of skin
was about his waist
and he was eating locusts and wild honey
and he preached, saying
the one stronger than I is coming after me
whose sandals’ strap
I am not worthy to stoop down and untie
I baptised you in water
he will baptise you in the Holy Spirit
and it came to pass in those days
that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee
and was baptised in the Jordan by John
and immediately, coming out of the water
he saw the skies splitting
and the spirit coming down like a dove unto him
and a voice came out of the skies
“You are my beloved Son
in whom I am well pleased”
and immediately the spirit cast him out into the wilderness
and he was in the wilderness for 40 days
being tested by the devil
and he was amongst the wild beasts
and the angels were serving him
And after John was put in jail
Jesus came into Galilee
preaching the good news of God
and saying, “The time is fulfilled
and the kingdom of God has drawn near
repent and believe in the gospel.
and as he was passing by the sea of Galilee
he saw Simon and Andrew his brother
casting their nets into the sea, for they were fisherman
and Jesus said to them
Follow after me
and I shall make you become fishers of men
