MARK 2 Flashcards
and when he returned to Capernaum after some days
it was heard that he was at home
and many people were gathered
so that there was no longer room
not even around the door
and he was speaking to them the word
and some came bringing him a paralysed man
carried by four men
and, being unable to get the man to him
because of the crowd
they uncovered the roof
where he was
and when they had dug through it
they lowered down the bed
on which the paralysed man was lying
And Jesus, seeing their faith,
said to the paralysed man
“Child, your sins are forgiven you”
but some of the scribes were sitting there
and reasoning in their hearts
why does this man speak so? He is blaspheming
Who but the one God is able to forgive sins?
and immediately Jesus, recognising…
in his spirit that they were reasoning amongst themselves
⸀λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τί ταῦτα διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν;
said to them, “Why do you consider such things in your hearts?”
what is easier
to say to the paralytic
your sins are forgiven, or to say
⸀Ἔγειρε καὶ ἆρον ⸂τὸν κράβαττόν σου⸃ καὶ περιπάτει;
rise and take up your bed and walk?
but so you know that
the son of man has authority
on earth to forgive sins
“I say to you, rise and take your bed and go home.
and he rose and immediately took up his bed
and went away in front of everyone
so that all were amazed
and praised God, saying,
we have never seen anything like this§
and he went away again along the sea
