is a musical form of the late 19th century
that has had deep roots in African-American
communities. These communities are located in the
so-called “Deep South” of the United States. The
slaves and their descendants used to sing as they
worked in the cotton and vegetable fields.
Blues
was a popular music genre of the 1950’s and
1960’s. It originated in the United States. It combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues, and often jazz. The catchy rhythms are accompanied by handclaps and
extemporaneous body moves which are among its important features. Other characteristics include “call and response” between the soloist and the chorus, and an especially tense and powerful vocal sound
Soul
normally associated with a deeply religious person, refers here to a Negro spiritual, a song form by African migrants to America who became enslaved by its white communities.
Spiritual
a succession of two distinct musical phrases usually rendered by different musicians, where the second phrase acts as a direct commentary on or response to the first. Much like the question and answer sequence in human communication, it also forms a strong resemblance to the verse-chorus form in many vocal compositions.
Call and response

Maracatu
It is a type of dance and music is
similar to salsa and uses instruments
like accordion, guitars and
percussions.
Cumbia
is a vibrant and playful dance between two people. It has very rich potential for expression, improvisation and connection and is danced in both modern and traditional styles.
Tango
has a modified Cuban Motion hip action, because of the speed. This is an exuberant dance that will get your heart pumping and put a smile on your face.
Cha cha
one of the most dramatic of all the Latin dances.The man should also incorporate the apel, a move in which he strongly stamps his foot, much like a matador strikes the ground in order to capture the attention of the bull. All moves of the Paso Doble should be sharp and quick, with the chest and head held high to represent arrogance and
dignity.
Paso doble
a group of dances associated with Afro-Cuban music, while Ballroom Rumba refers to the sensual ballroom dance performed in social occasions and
international dances.
Rumba
a Spanish term for “double step”. It is a ballroom dance of two quick slow steps and two quick
steps.
Foxtrot
literally means “NEW BEAT” The word BOSSA in Brazil means that
something is performed natural and skillful way. BOSSA NOVA is from the fusion of samba and jazz.
Bossa nova
It is musical style that developed in Jamaica in the early 1960’s. This genre evolved from such earlier styles as ska and rocksteady.
