1
Q

What is primary processing

A

Turning raw materials into useful standard stock sizes which are EASIER and CHEAPER to buy because parts are already made

10
Q

What is just in time production

A

All components arrive at the factory when their needed. Cheaper factories are used eg restaurants

Q

What is mass production

A

A product it made on a large line of sequences where each stage of production is responsible for adding a part onto the product eg cars

16
Q

What is a template

A

A cut out that can be drawn around or into

17
Q

What is a pattern

A

A replica of a finished product that is also used to make a mould. They are used for shaping products in a vacuum forming machine

18
Q

What is a mould

A

A hollow shape that can have a material placed into and take the shape of, used when making lots of one type of component

19
Q

What is vacuum forming

A

Using a sheet of plastic that is heated to stretch over a mould which is then cooled

20
Q

What is die Casting

A

Injecting molten material between two plates

21
Q

What is extrusion

A

Forcing molten material through a template (a dye) to take its shape

22
Q

What is injection moulding

A

Injecting molten material into a cut out

24
Q

What is die cutting

A

A manufacturing technique using a segregated blade shaped as the thing you want to cut out is used to cut through a material whilst attached to a plywood base

25
Q

What is blow moulding

A

Used to manufacture HOLLOW plastics a molten mould is placed on a parsion between two halves of the mould air is blown into the molten until it takes up both halves

26
Q

What is rotational moulding

A

Another process to make a hollow object by putting molten material into a template that spins
