Define the term “Regulatory Article”?
Regulatory Articles.
The purpose of Regulatory Articles (RA) is to provide the framework of policy, rules, directives, standards, processes and the associated direction, advice and guidance, which governs military aviation activity and against which air safety is assessed.
There are five separate series within the MAM, which series are applicable to the CIT Trade?
CIT’s will mainly use the 1000 & 4000 series for guidance.
- 1000 series (GEN) General Regulations
- 4000 series (CAE) Continuing Airworthiness Engineering Regs
State three different areas pertinent to the CIT trade that the MAM covers?
- Chapter 0.6 - Authority Levels and Tasks.
- Chapter 1.1 - Squadron, Unit Aviation Engineering Orders.
- Chapter 2.1 - Engineering Authorizations.
- Chapter 2.4 - Signatures on Maintenance Documentation.
- Chapter 4.13 - Management of Hand Tools and Test and Measuring Equipment.
- Chapter 4.13.1 - Tool Control Procedures.
- Chapter 4.14 - Loose Articles – Precautions and Recovery Procedures.
The MAM provides information on Authorisations, what is the process of granting “Auths”?

Prior to the Level J or K holder granting an Authorization, they are to assess the individual’s Competence to be awarded the Authorization.
What Rank is a Level J Authority Holder?
Level J is Normally the rank of Sqn Ldr. Unless a Flt Lt has been granted that level of authority for a specific period of time (to cover Leave / OOA’s).
What Rank is a Level K Authority Holder?
Level K is Normally the rank of Wg Cdr. Unless a Sqn Ldr has been granted that level of authority for a specific period of time (to cover Leave / OOA’s).
