To show the tradesman in a clear and unambiguous way, precisely what the designer of the equipment requires in order to complete the work.
State four different types of lines used in Engineering Drawings?
Common types of lines used are as follows;
- Continuous Thick Line.
- Continuous Thin Lines.
- Continuous Thin Irregular & Straight with Zigzags.
- Dashed Thick & Thin Lines.
- Chain Thin, Thick at Ends & Changes of Direction.
- Chain Thick.
- Chain Thin, Double Dashed.
What is the purpose of a Sectional View?
Used to show the important features of an object which cannot normally be seen
When would “Interrupted Views” be used in Engineering Drawings?
When it would otherwise prove a waste of time and space to draw in every detail, therefore an interrupted view would be used to shorten views of long uniform parts.
How are Masts and Towers denoted on Engineering Drawings?
Masts and Towers are denoted on Engineering Drawings as;
- A basic circle for a Mast,
- A Basic Square for a Tower.
What information would be found within the Title Block of an Engineering Drawing?
The Title Box consists of the following;
- Drawing Title
- Drawing Number
- Producer of Drawing
- Scale
What precautions should be observed to ensure the care of drawings?
Care of Drawings
- Lay drawing flat to read.
- Keep clean and dry.
- Do not make alterations without prior authorization.
- Do not take into the field unless absolutely necessary.
- Refold using original folds and ensure that the drawing number is outermost.
