Q

Process of artificial pollination

A
  1. Selection of Plants: Choose desirable parent plants based on traits like yield, disease resistance, or fruit quality.
    1. Flower Preparation: Identify flowers that are ready for pollination, usually at the correct stage of maturity.
    2. Pollen Collection: Collect pollen from the male flower of the selected plant using a brush, cotton swab, or by shaking the flower.
    3. Pollen Transfer: Transfer the collected pollen to the stigma of the female flower of another selected plant by gently brushing or placing it directly.
    4. Fertilization: If successful, the pollen germinates on the stigma, and the sperm travels down the style to fertilize the ovule, leading to seed development.
    5. Fruit/Seed Development: Monitor the flower as it develops into fruit or seed, ensuring proper care for optimal growth.
