Hormone Control Flashcards
Pituitary gland (master gland)
- Produces prolactin which promotes the secretion of milk from glands
- produces oxytocin which contributes to contraction of uterine wall as positive feedback as a response to the Fetus kicking on the wall
Trophoblast cells
- Secrete hCG
- production of other hormones to support fetal growth and prepare the body for childbirth
Human chorionic gonadotropin
( hCG )
- hormone that supports the pregnancy by signalling the corpus luteum in the ovary to continue producing progesterone
Human chorionic gonadotropin
( hCG )
- hormone that supports the pregnancy by signalling the corpus luteum in the ovary to continue producing progesterone
Progesterone
Maintains the uterine lining, essential for nourishing the developing embryo and preventing menstruation
What does the ovaries release
- FSH
- LH
- oestrogen
- progesterone
Follicle stimulating hormone
FSH
- promoted the development of follicle
Lutenising hormone
Causes the follicle to realise the egg
Follicle
A follicle is a small, fluid-filled sac in the ovary that contains an immature egg and supports its growth and maturation until ovulation.
Oestrogen
Promoted the development of the inner lining of the uterus
Hypothalamus
From brain
- releases GNRH which acts on the pituitary gland to secrete FSH and LH
