What’s an organization? What are the common characteristics of an organization?
An organization is a deliberate arrangement of people brought together to accomplish a specific purpose. All organizations are characterised for having goals, people and a structure.
How are managers characterized? How are nonmanagerial employees characterized?
Managers direct and oversee the activities of other people in the organization and may have work duties not related to direct and oversee others’ tasks. Nonmanagerial employees work directly on a task and aren’t responsible to oversee others’ work.
What types of managers do you know?
Top managers, middle managers, first-line managers and team leaders.
What’s management?
Process of getting things done effectively and efficiently with and through people.
Explain the difference of efficiency and effectiveness.
Efficiency is doing things right and effectiveness is doing the right things.
What are the functions of a Manager?
Plannning, organizing, leading and controlling.
What can change manager functions?
The level in the organization (type of manager), the size of the organization, weather the organization is or not a profitable organization and national borders (different countries, different practices).
What type of roles does a manager play?
Interpesonal roles, decional roles and informational roles.
What are the main skills that managers need?
Conceptual skills, interperonal skills, technical skills and political skills.
Enumerate the factors that are reshaping and redefining management.
Managers are dealing with changes in the workplace, workforce, technology and global economic.
