Explain Parochialism and how it impacts management.
Parochialism is a narrow focus in which managers see things only through their own prespective which can affect how a business is managed.
Name the five value dimensions of national culture that make managers and employees vary.
Power Distance: degree to which people in a country accept that power in organizations is distributed unequally;
Individualism vs Collectivism: degree to which people in a country prefer to act as individuals rather than as memebers of groups. Collectivism is the opposite of Individualism;
Uncertainty Avoidance: degree to which people in a country prefer structured over unstructured situations and whether people are willing to take risks;
Long-term vs Short-term orientation: people in a country with long-term orientations look to the future and value thrift and persistence, while people with short-term orientation value the past and present and emphasizes respect for tradition and fulfilling social obligations;
Quantity of life vs Quality of life

Assertiveness, future orientation, gender differentiation, uncertainty avoidance, power distance, individualism/collectivism, in-group collectivism, performance orientation and humane orientation.
How can organizations demonstrate socially responsible action?
Through, Social Responsability (is a business’ intetion to do the right things and act in ways that are good for society), Social Obligations (occurs when a firm engages in social actions because of its obligations to meet certain economic and legal resposabilites), and Social Resposiveness (is seen when a firm engages in social actions in response to some popular social need).
Name the three different prespectives on how managers make ethical decisions.
Utilitarian View, Rights View and Justice View
How can managers encourage ethical behavior and create a comprehensive ethics program in organizations?
Creating a code of ethics with the organization’s primary values and ethical rules, having a leadership commited to ethical behavior and providing ethics training.
What is changing in the workforce?
Workforce is becoming more diverse, which means there are different people working on the same team. These difference can be easily seen, and are age, gender, race, physical attributes, style of dress differences for example. The new generations are also changing their way of seeing work in general and the whole workplace.
How are managers adapting to changing workforces?
Offering work-life balance programs, offering family friendly benefits, and being more open-minded people.
