Encourages employee active participation in taking decisions

-Participation is encouraged
-Two way communication used
Limitations
-Time consuming
-Sometimes, quick decision making is required
Paternalistic management
View that manager knows what’s better for the workers
Benefits
-Managers do what they think is best
-Managers want workers to be happy w their jobs
Limitations
-Some workers maybe dissatisfied by attempts to consult
Laissez faire management
Management that leaves decision making to the workforce

-Delegate all authority and decision making

Theory X
The view that employees are lazy, fear motivated and in need of constant direction

View that employees are internally motivated, enjoy their work and are prepared to take on additional responsibilities
