Male Pelvis Flashcards
location of prostate
below the neck of the bladder and sits on top of urogenital diaphragm
seminal vesicle location
found between bladder and rectum, produces semen that is released during ejaculation
pubostatic ligaments
hold prostatic gland to pubic symphysis
the posterior surface of the urinary bladder is in contact with
vas deferens and seminal vesicles
ductus deferens
transports sperm from epididymis to the ampulla, ready for ejaculation in the ejaculatory duct
dialated part of vas deferens is
ampulla
three positions of the male urethra
- prostatic urethra: transitional epithelium
- spongy urethra: proximal part is stratified columnar and the fossa navicularis is non keratinized squamous
- membranous: stratified colomner
blood supply of the urinary bladder
superior vesical arteries
inferior vesical arteries
small branches from obturator and inferior gluteal arteries
venous drainage of the urinary bladder
superior and inferior venous plexus- drain into illiac vein
lymphatic drainage of urinary bladder
lymphatic vessels superior part of bladder drain into external iliac lymph nodes
lymphatic vessels of the inferior part drain into internal lymph nodes
where is seminal vesicle situated
above prostate gland and lateral to each ampulla of the vas deferens
vas deferens joins the ampulla of ductus vas deferens and form
ejaculatory ducts
seminal vesicle secretes
50-80% of ejaculate and the secretion is yellowish gelatinous and alkaline
rest is secreted by
prostate
the seminal vesicle is rich in
proteins, prostaglandins and fibronigen
