RESTING- AND ADVANTAGES

PEWTER CASTING
- mould with a riser to let the air escape
- melt the pewter with a hot air gun in a copper dish
- pour into mould and cool it
DIE CASTING
- pouring molten metal into a hydrolic system
- rams it into the split mould
SAND CASTING
- wooden mold pressed into dsmp sand
- add risers and put the two halves of the moulds together
- pour molten metal
- wait till cooled

CUTTING A THREAD
a way of joining metal bar and metal sheet/ block together, so that they can be taken apart again

- taper
- second (intermediate)

TAPPING PROCESS
- drill hole (use tapping chart for size)
- put taper tap into tap wrench
- keep level and turn slowly
- do a “half a turn back”
- repeat with second and plug tap
ADVANTAGES OF POP-RIVETING
- quick
- only need access form 1 side
STEP 1 OF POP-RIVETING
- mark holes with a centre punch drill
- make holes with pillar drill
STEP 2 OF POP-RIVETING
-poprivet loaded in gun and fedthrough material
STEP 3 OF POP-RIVETING
-when handle is squeeze, the poprivet pin is pulled into gun and lower piece is deformed
STEP 4 OF POP-RIVETING
-when th epin is removed the pop rivet leaves a permenant joint between the metal
