Major Sulci Flashcards
1
Q
Precentral gyrus
A
- lateral surface of each frontal lobe, anterior to the central sulcus
- controls volitional movements of the contralateral side of the body
2
Q
Central sulcus (aka: central fissure)
A
- runs down the middle of the lateral surface of the brain, separating the frontal lobe from the parietal lobe
- separates the primary motor cortex from the primary somatosensory cortex, and also the frontal and parietal lobes
3
Q
Postcentral sulcus
A
- responsible for proprioception
- separates the postcentral gyrus from the remainder of the parietal lobe
4
Q
Pareto-occiptal sulcus
A
- provides a landmark for defining the location of the primary visual cortex
5
Q
Lateral sulcus
A
- to separate the temporal lobe from the frontal and parietal lobes
