Magnetic Fields Flashcards
Magnetic Flux Density (B)
Defined by the equations F = BIL sinѲ
F = Force on wire length L carrying a current I at an angle Ѳ to the magnetic field.
Flemings Right-hand rule (GeneRIGHTus = Generators)
The Generator rule. The motion being thuMb, field First finger, current seCond finger
Thummmmmmmmb, motion. Ffffffffffirst=field, Seccccccond = current.
Flemings Left-hand rule (As it’s not right hand rule, must be Motors)
The Motor rule. The motion being thuMb, field First finger, current seCond finger.
Tesla (a unit of magnetic flux density, B from N/A m) (kg/As2)
Magnetic flux density when a 1m wire carries 1A at 90o to the field and experiences a 1N Force.
Also, a particle carrying a charge of 1C passing through a field of 1T at 1ms-1 experiences a force of magnitude 1N.
