Challenging Macbeth’s masculinity, belittled or mocks him for being a coward to manipulate him
Wants him to commit the murder

Lady Macbeth says she would kill her own child if I had promised you, like you have promised this
Subverting Jacobean gender roles as women were not meant to even see violence and lady m is saying something peaceful with something violent

Macbeth is persuaded to go through with it
He visualises the dagger when he goes to kill him

Go get some water and wash this filthy witness from your hand” - Macbeth
Imperative - she is taking charge , calm , calculating , practical assertive and authoritative. Subverted gender roles.
Water - cleansing of the sins
“Wagnowtbcfmh?”
“Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand?” - Macbeth
Hyperbole - suggests his overwhelming guilt
Rhetorical question - calling out to god/a higher power for support / answers
