Agile PM Process Steps & Stages (6)
A
Extra points - Agile PM process must be built and deployed incrementally from a firm foundation. Value is delivered early and frequently.
Pre Project
- Purpose is to position the project and justify the feasibility phase.
- Ensures that only the right projects are started.
- Ensures projects are set up correctly and have clearly defined objectives.
Feasibility
- PM works with all members (SDT, Project level & supporting roles)
- Discovery whether proposed project is feasible and cost effective.
Foundations
- PM works with project level roles to understand the Business, Solution & Technical and management perspectives.
- Business perspective must have a prioritised requirements list and a business case
- Solution/Technical perspectives must have a solution architecture definition and a development approach definition
- management perspective must have a delivery plan and a management approach definition
Evolutionary Development Phases (2)
Project Management

- Focuses on Environment and manages by exception (significant deviation from budget or plan)
- Protects SDT from distractions and makes sure they are committed
- Manages the engagement of business ambassadors, advisors and any part time resources
Specific tasks
- Participates in or facilitates Timebox Kick-off and Timebox Close-out in order to: measure progress, feed learning and plan incomplete work back into the delivery plan.
- Works with the Business Visionary and Technical Coordinator to plan deployment
Deployment
- This phase is to bring a baseline of the Evolving solution into operational use (can be a final solution or a subset of the final). After the last release, the project is finally closed.
- Project manager: Coordinates day to day activities and make sure everyone is involved. Bring solution increment into live operational uses. Makes sure the following roles are responsible for:
Business Visionary: Responsible for business change
Technical Coordinator: Responsible for technical transition into live use
Collaborating with the SDT and other Stakeholders
Post-Project

The focus of the PM varies from stage to stage
